    OPTI is a busy outpatient orthopedic clinic located in North Idaho serving three locations, Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, and Hayden. We are looking for a motivated orthopedic Physical therapist Assistant provider to join our team. You have the opportunity to work closely with orthopedic surgeons and have direct access to our same day orthopedic urgent care. We treat a highly motivated patient population ranging from high school, collegiate, and professional athletes to those in the community wanting to restore their normal way of life.

    Job Description

    This licensed, professional position is responsible for following the primary physical therapists plan of care for patients in accordance with established clinical policies while maintaining the highest degree of quality care. As a member of the patient’s health care team, the Physical Therapist Assistant assumes responsibility for communication of patient related issues with appropriate team members and/or other clinic staff. Physical Therapist Assistant contributes to the growth of the clinic through various relationship-building efforts by providing excellent service to all customers.

    Essential Functions and Key Position Responsibilities

    Must have an appropriate current state license to practice as a Physical Therapist assistant and maintain current CPR certification.

    Demonstrates competency in providing quality physical therapy services to a wide variety of patients including intervention, education, treatment, related documentation and communication.

    Demonstrates competency with identification of medical, social, and emotional factors influencing patient’s status and appropriately and promptly communicates with primary physical therapist about any unexpected changes in progress.

    Documents all treatment and coordination of care contacts via appropriate facility policies. Completes documentation (including daily notes and status reports to referral sources) accurately and timely (per clinic policies) and reflects good clinical practice as well as appropriate billing and reimbursement requirements.

    Demonstrates an ability to treat a wide range of diagnoses and be knowledgeable in current therapy treatments, goals and contraindications for treatment. Seeks consultation, mentorship and/or continuing education when appropriate and to build skills.

    Provides education and counseling to patient/family regarding treatments and goals, potential safety risks and/or other issues within scope of practice. Teaches home exercise programs and compensatory techniques or skills for reaching individually stated therapy goals. Adheres to company policy relative to development of home exercise programs.

    Responds to urgent client needs by prioritizing and triaging treatments. Communicates schedule and work plan to Front Office Coordinator, Clinic Director and other team members as appropriate. Must be able to meet clinic productivity standards.

    Responsible for completing continuing education coursework dictated by OPTI and state licensing requirements.

    Attends required team meetings and participates in clinic program planning and policy discussions as appropriate.

    Must contribute to the growth and revenue generation of the clinic through marketing and other relationship building efforts (e.g. referral generation, community events, etc).

    Complies with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and requirements, as well as, facility/agency specific policies and procedures.

    Maintains confidentiality of all patient demographic, medical, company and other information. Ensures proper handling, retention and disposal of confidential documents and adheres to all HIPAA rules and regulations.

    Complies with company standards in patient outcomes reporting and maintains an acceptable level of (clinical and patient satisfaction) outcomes performance.

    Adheres to all policies and procedures including regulatory requirements with regard to infection control, practicing universal precautions, sanitation, and safety and disaster preparedness.

    Supports special projects and other designated activities as assigned in support of OPTI’s mission and core values.

    Evaluates, recommends, and assists in obtaining adaptive equipment as needed. Adapts equipment and techniques for use in the home setting to assure optimum function and safety.

    Engages in the learning organization aspect of OPTI. This may be through, but is not limited to, involvement in clinical education activities, development and advancement of a personal education plan, and/or pursuing specialization in orthopedic or sports physical therapy.

    If applicable, instructs on and supervises aide programs to be carried out by the aide according to the aide training workbook. Instructs others in the techniques in order to reach goals.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Associates degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant from an institution accredited by Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.

    Licensure Qualifications/Requirements

    Current Idaho State Physical Therapist Assistant License

    Current CPR certification

    Therapy Skills

    Knowledge of relevant rehabilitation therapy techniques and procedures in respective discipline.

    Adapts easily to changes in work assignments and environment and is willing to assume additional responsibility and learn new procedures.

    Ability to be flexible with schedule as position may occasionally require extra hours including evenings

    Maintains excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at one time. Must be self motivated and possess the ability to work independently in a collaborative setting.

    Computer/Office Skills

    Ability to use standard office equipment including personal computers, telephones, copiers and fax machines.

    Basic proficiency with MS Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook required.

    Prefers experience with electronic documentation software and literature search engines
