Job Summary: The Physical Therapy Technician supports physical therapists in delivering rehabilitation and therapy services to patients. The role involves assisting with patient care, preparing equipment, maintaining a clean and organized therapy environment, and helping with administrative tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with Patient Care: Help patients with exercises, stretches, and therapeutic activities as instructed by the physical therapist.
Prepare Therapy Equipment: Set up and maintain treatment areas, ensuring all equipment is cleaned and sterilized properly. Prepare necessary equipment for each patient session.
Monitor Patients: Observe and report patients' progress to physical therapists. Ensure patient safety during exercises and activities.
Assist in Patient Movement: Help patients with mobility challenges, including transferring patients to and from therapy areas or devices (e.g., wheelchairs, walkers).
Documentation Support: Maintain accurate patient records, including documenting daily treatments, progress, and any changes in patient condition. Assist with patient intake forms and scheduling.
Maintain Therapy Area: Keep the therapy area tidy, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for both patients and staff.
Collaborate with Team: Communicate effectively with physical therapists, medical staff, and patients to ensure optimal patient care.
Assisting with Front Desk: Answering phones, checking in patients, scheduling patients, verifying insurances, collecting copays, assisting with all other front desk duties
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in physical therapy or healthcare-related fields is a plus.
Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in physical therapy or rehabilitation, is preferred but not always required.
Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to lift and assist patients with mobility
Basic knowledge of anatomy and therapeutic exercises
Organizational skills for maintaining clean, safe environments
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move patients when necessary.
Stamina for standing, walking, and assisting with physical therapy activities.
Occasional bending, stretching, and lifting heavy equipment.
Working Conditions:
May involve direct patient interaction and some exposure to medical conditions and bodily fluids.
Part-time, roughly 25 hours per week
