    Job Overview: 

      The Physician Assistant will have the opportunity to directly impact the lives of veterans by providing them with high-quality healthcare services in the Primary Care team setting which include both outpatient scheduled and unscheduled Veterans. You'll be e responsible for clinic appointments and follow-up of labs/imaging/procedures ordered during these appointments, interpretation, phone call consultation from hospitalists and intensivists on inpatients, and availability for case review with nurse practitioners on service – all this will provide the chance to utilize and further develop your clinical skills in a fast-paced environment. With an estimated 95% of your time spent in direct patient care, you'll gain valuable experience and expertise in managing a diverse range of patient cases. The position requires candidates who are technically proficient and committed to upholding the highest standards of care. By meeting the government's requirements, including maintaining current licensure, certifications, and adherence to ethical standards, you'll be part of a team dedicated to providing top-notch healthcare services to our nation's veterans. You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including nurse practitioners, hospitalists, and intensivists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.     Experience Requirement:

    • A minimum of 5 years of experience within the last five years as Primary Care Physician’s Assistant in direct patient care
    • Must be a citizen of the United States of America
    • Experienced in the required specialty
    • Providing Family Practice and interventional Family Practice consultative services for assessment, diagnostic work-up, clinic intervention, comprehensive patient assessment, health history, physical examination, and patient education
    • Ordering and evaluating diagnostic tests
    • Recommending treatment and/or making referrals accordingly
    • Recording/documenting health appraisal information, clinical assessments, treatment decision, plan of care, ongoing management and therapeutic outcomes
    • Prescribing medications/ordering diagnostic tests and referral consultations
    • Using electronic comprehensive patient record system (CPRS) to complete recording/documenting on the day of the encounter

    Experience Preferences:

    • Experience working with veteran patients of all ages 

    Physical Requirements:

    •  Ability to lift 35+ lbs., per OSHA recommendations

    Education Requirements:

    • Active certification in the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
    • Certified in VHA-approved Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalency
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications from the American Heart Association
    • Must have a current unencumbered license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
