    Job Description

    Under the direction and collaboration with the Medical Director and Physician, provides and assesses medical care provided to all patients admitted to PaRC- Prevention and Recovery Center. Interfaces with other departments to coordinate and meet patient care needs.

    Responsibilities

    The duties listed below reflect the general details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all work requirements that may be inherent in the position.

    • Providing approved detox protocols for a wide range of substance use disorders.
    • Diagnosing and treating presenting medical conditions.
    • Conducting History and Physical Assessment.
    • Prescribing medication.
    • Ordering lab test and interpreting results of lab tests.
    • Making referrals.
    • Assessing and managing acute and chronic pain.
    • Evaluating the impact of socio-economic and cultural factors on the individual’s ability to comply with the care plan, including the medical aftercare recommendations.
    • Review of patient records relative to ordering of medications, lab work, and treatment protocol.
    • Prescribe appropriate medical interventions or diagnostic testing for patients; reviews, and documents test results/interpretations.
    • Communicate status of patients seen in consultation to appropriate medical and clinical team members. Collaboration and coordination with the nursing department.
    • Rounds on patients.
    • Rotates on-call with colleagues on weekend or holiday call.
    • Collaborates with leadership in the interdisciplinary plan of care functions.
    • Participates in all required functions of utilization review, peer reviews, and appeals relative to the justification and authorization of treatment days for patients.
    • Completes visit notes on all patients seen within 24 hours, sign all orders within 24 hours.
    • Conducts visits with patients on detox protocols daily to assess progress and stability.
    • Fosters an environment of teamwork among all areas.
    • Maintains visibility in all areas on all shifts through rounding.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Graduate of Physician Assistant Program or Accredited Family Nurse Practitioner Program.
    • Valid Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner License in Texas required.
    • NCCPA Certification for Physician Assistants required.
    • Valid DEA registration required.
    • Basic Life Support required.
    • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Chemical dependency training and/or 1 year experience in treating that population preferred.
