Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Pain Management
We are a Premier Pain Management and PM&R practice seeking a CA licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to become a part of our upbeat, dynamic team! Our practice believes in the multi-disciplinary comprehensive treatment of pain with non-pharmacological treatments (physical therapy, psychology, acupuncture, etc.), interventional procedures (spinal, joint, muscle and nerve injections, neuromodulation, radiofrequency ablation, etc.), and pain medications. We do NOT prescribe high-dosages of opioid and pain medications. This is a part-time position of 3 days/week with opportunities for full-time in the near future. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
Taking History and Physical Exams relevant to Pain, Spine, and Musculoskeletal Medicine.
Evaluate, Diagnose and Treat acute, episodic or chronic illnesses relevant to Pain, Spine, and Musculoskeletal Conditions
Evaluation of Patients in the Outpatient/Clinic Setting and Inpatient Pain Consults (SNF, occasional hospital).
Ordering and Interpreting Diagnostic and Laboratory Tests
Initiating and Managing Treatments including Prescribing Medication and Non-Pharmacologic Treatments, Coordinating Care, Counseling, and Educating Patients and their families and communities.
Adherence to Safe Patient management policies and procedures
Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities
Communicate with collaborating physician or specialist regarding patient care
Qualifications:
Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in California with a Clean Record.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Previous Experience in Pain medicine in the outpatient, skilled nursing facility, hospital ER, and/or primary care settings
Demonstrate excellent patient service skills with the ability to work independently, and as a collaborative team member with other physicians and health care providers
Ability to build rapport with patients
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Strong leadership qualities
DEA License Requiring:
Identifying the relationship of the natural history of illness, disease or injury, pathophysiology, and symptomatology to pharmacotherapeutic agents commonly used to treat patients with conditions requiring the use of Schedule II, III, or IV controlled substances, including risks of addiction associated with the use of schedule II controlled substances
Preferences:
Willingness to work at Burbank Clinic and Weekly SNF Consults in Pasadena and East San Fernando Valley
Familiarity with Diagnosing and Treating Acute and Chronic Pain and Musculoskeletal Conditions
Familiarity with Appropriate Pain, Spine and Musculoskeletal History and Physical Exam of Patients
Adherence to SAFE Protocols of Prescribing Pain Medications Taking Into Consideration of co-morbidities (i.e. renal, liver, psychiatric, gastrointestinal, cardiac, respiratory, sleep apnea, etc.)
Experience Performing Trigger Point and Basic Joint Injections
Familiarity with the Indications, Risks, Benefits, and Medical Clearance Requirements of Interventional Pain Procedures (Epidural, Medial Branch Block, Nerve Blocks, Botox Injections for Migraines or Spasticity, Joint Injections, Trigger Point Injections, Radiofrequency Ablation, Spinal Cord Stimulation, Peripheral Nerve Stimulation, etc.)
Familiarity with Appropriate Utilization Review Guidelines for Pain Treatments (i.e. Prior Authorization Requirements for PPO, Workers Compensation, etc.)
Familiarity with Appropriate Diagnostic Studies for Pain & PM&R (Imaging, EMG, Lab Work, Urine Drug Toxicology),

Compensation: $68.00 - $100.00 per hour
