Soundcheck Rock Academy is experiencing unprecedented growth and we have an opportunity for several multi-instrumentalist instructors. We are a performance-based music school located in the heart of Howard County. We are seeking incredible people to give out high fives and music knowledge! We are currently seeking (2) experienced people to teach piano/keyboards/ vocals and be a mentor and band instructors for children, teens, and adults:
have the ability to instruct and mentor music students in a private or semi-private lesson format.
using past knowledge and curriculum-based method books with specific methodologies and arrangements.
to instruct students in techniques and theories needed to play their chosen instrument.
to direct small groups in playing, performing, and recording original and cover songs.
to support private student placement in rock bands in collaboration with the school music director and staff.
move, set up, and break down equipment at the school and various school events
assist management with customer service
communicate with parents as to how students are progressing
perform a variety of school functions when needed
assist with moving furniture, equipment, and materials for rehearsals and in instructor room needs
clean and maintain personal teaching room and rehearsal rooms
maintain records in proprietary music software
Knowledge and Abilities
Must demonstrate an understanding of music concepts and be able to communicate those concepts to children, teens, and adults
multi-instrumentalists are strongly preferred.
must show the ability to read music and teach music in an understandable way
must demonstrate the ability to run basic sound equipment
must be able to receive constructive feedback on teaching techniques and apply the feedback to new teaching situations and environments
must be able to be physically present at the studio for scheduled lessons
effective time management and organizational skills
ability to operate basic office equipment photocopiers and computers
ability to interact effectively with the public
ability to work effectively with staff and management
ability to work in a fast-paced environment
ability to adapt to change in the workplace
ability to pass a background check
must be proficient in English speaking and writing skills
additional language(s) are a plus
ability to lift and move the equipment typically associated with all day-to-day operations, e.g., amplifiers, keyboards, recording equipment, light furniture, etc.
