Job Details
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and international tax laws and regulations.
- Manage relationships with tax authorities and external advisors.
- Provide strategic tax advice to senior management and other departments.
- Oversee the preparation and review of all tax filings.
- Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies for business operations and transactions.
- Stay updated on tax legislation changes and assess the impact on the company.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and other business ventures from a tax perspective.
- Conduct tax risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Manage and mentor the tax team, promoting professional development and continuous improvement.
- Travel occasionally for work at clients’ offices, meetings, and seminars.
- Work occasional overtime throughout the year.
- Participate actively in client meetings and tax planning efforts to support the A&A Department with larger clients.
- Serve as a resource for tax preparers/specialists and A&A staff on specific tax issues and questions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree in Taxation preferred.
- CPA or equivalent certification required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in tax, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Seven to ten years of experience in public accounting, demonstrating a proven progression in tax complexity, scope, and research.
- At least 2 years of experience representing clients before taxing authorities.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience supervising and directing the work of tax preparers.
- Minimum of 40 hours of continuing education required each year to maintain and develop technical and business skills.
- Must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs.
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and international tax laws and regulations.
- Experience with tax planning, compliance, and strategy in a corporate environment.
- Proven track record of managing tax audits and disputes.
