  • Responsibilities

    We are seeking a Controller to join an award winning renewable energy provider. This individual will play a key role in managing the company's financial operations working with executive leadership for strategic planning to ensure the ongoing financial health of the organization. A CPA is a must for this role as you will manage the overall finance and accounting functions.

    The Controller will

    • Take ownership of accounting, finance, budgets, commercial relationships and contracting.

    • Oversee the third-party accounting firm and review all financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and GAAP compliance.

    • Direct and manage the annual financial audit.

    • Analyze budgets, financial trends and forecasts.

    • Work with internal teams to verify the accuracy of invoices.

    • Analyze, evaluate and implement alternative customer rate structures, as needed.

    • Monitor invoice approvals and processes to ensure that all invoices and wires are thoroughly and appropriately reviewed prior to payment.

    • Review and update financial operations, ensuring adequate policies and procedures are in place.

    • Present financial metrics for review by credit rating agencies and other financial stakeholders.

    • Monitor and ensure effective internal controls are in place to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

    • Participate enterprise risk management activities.

    • Collaborate with executive leadership and stakeholders to manage and optimize revenue streams and implementing appropriate finance and fiscal spending policies.

    • As a member of the leadership team,

    • Work closely with and present financial information to the Board of Directors.

    • Perform other assigned projects and duties.

    To succeed in this role you will need:

    • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

    • At least 15 years of experience and demonstrated growth in an accounting/finance function, including 10 years of leadership experience.

    • Demonstrated experience developing, reviewing, and updating organization policies and procedures related to internal controls and external compliance.

    • Previous experience working with outside auditors.
    • Experience within the energy sector, electricity rates, energy pre-pay structures and agreements, and rate setting/forecasting is highly desirable. 

    • High level of integrity and judgement.

    • Previous experience working with governmental agencies is a plus.
