  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    To effectively perform all the functions of transportation planning using the Transportation Management System (TMS) for the Spring Grove Distribution Center and all outside warehouses, convertors or any other designated area. Plans all inventory movements to meet customer orders within the MES (Honeywell Optivision) system. This position is responsible for monitoring all EMS, ISO, and SOX regulations relevant to the department. Must consistently meet delivery dates while controlling transportation costs by pre-planning shipments.

    ** Roles and Responsibilities**

    • Shipment Planning – Work as a Load Planning team to consistently meet delivery requirements while controlling transportation costs. Manage all order change activities within the Distribution Center and Finishing departments to ensure the most efficient use of resources while meeting delivery-to-promise. Control transportation costs by pre-planning shipments to maximize use of truckloads, pool trucks, containers, inter-modal shipments, and railcars. Ensure that carrier constraints do not negatively impact Spring Grove’s Deliver to Promise performance.

    • Customer Satisfaction – Consistently and accurately respond to all customer concerns related to shipments out of Spring Grove (SG) or the supporting warehouses. Understand customer service expectations regarding product availability and then plan shipments accordingly. Coordinate and schedule all customer truck pickups. Work with SG CSR teams to ensure delivery requirements are clear and met. Monitor the Deliver to Promise metrics for the Distribution Center.

    • Communication – Coordinate product availability with Scheduling, Finishing, and the SGDC Material Handlers to ensure delivery requirements are met. Notify Customer Service of any advanced notice of carrier failures. Provide carriers with necessary information regarding picking up and delivery of our product. Understand customer needs and carrier availability through constant communication with the teams mentioned above.

    • Teamwork – Collaborate with other Load Planner(s), Warehouse Coordinator and SGDC shipping team to meet daily/monthly shipping requirements. Provide and receive input to/from IPS to ensure Deliver to Promise commitments are met. Assist other team members as needed to ensure outstanding customer service in times of illness, vacation or lunch coverage.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree (A.A./ A.S.) from two-year college or technical school, and three to four years relevant experience required. Bachelor’s Degree plus two to three years relevant experience preferred.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
    • Solid computer skills and ability to learn new programs associated with the operation.
    • Shared after hours, evenings, weekend and holiday coverage required as needed.

    • Knowledge of Customer Support process, Finishing capabilities, and Carrier constraints;
    • Positive attitude, motivated, and adaptable;
    • Good negotiating skills for win-win solutions between Customer Support, Finishing, Shipping Customers and the Carrier.
