    Job Description

    Title: Plant Manager

    Reports to : Vice President of Manufacturing

    Job Purpose : Ultimately responsible for all operational processes and metrics related to the day-to-day operations of a Phoenix Stamping Group plant.

    Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities :

    _ Implement strategy for plant specific operational management:_

    • Manage Plant Production, Maintenance, Tooling, and Material Handling departments to meet or exceed company objectives for safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
    • Champion the plants safety program as committee member and help lead root cause and corrective action measures associated with identified opportunities for improvement.
    • Coordinate statutory training and compliance.
    • Build and monitor production schedules to ensure they are aligned with customer demand and inventory goals.
    • Understand and impact plant OEE metrics to include productivity and/or efficiency to positively impact OTD, plant output, and variable labor on the P&L.
    • Manage shipping and receiving processes, inventory management including cycle counts, and material handling equipment maintenance.
    • Audit compliance with standard work instructions and process control plans to minimize production of defective parts and avoid cost related to poor quality events.
    • Review all quality metrics with plant leaders to identify root cause and implement effective corrective actions.
    • Periodically evaluate staffing levels to ensure human resources are adequate and properly positioned to support current and future production requirements.
    • Oversee the professional development and evaluation of Supervisors, Leads, and direct/indirect labor.
    • Identify operator development opportunities and enlist appropriate personnel to assist in development and implementation of training programs to support growth and development.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive 6S and visual factory tools and continually monitor their effectiveness.
    • Maintain knowledge and awareness of contemporary operational theory and methods and provide suitable interpretation to all relevant personnel.
    • Understand, budget, and manage requisite plant P&L in order to impact relevant accounts including variable labor and operating expenses.
    • Manage plant Quick and Easy Kaizen (QEK) program to support quarterly QEK metric.

    _ Plan, implement, and support operational improvements_

    • Promote Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques in all production and related processes to increase efficiency and minimize operating costs.
    • Use process to gather data and systematically solve problems.
    • Actively solicit suggestions and utilize the experience of all employees to develop and implement improvements.

    _ Operate within Company Parameters:_

    • Champion continuous improvement efforts through knowledge and awareness, training, procurement, and process improvement.
    • Maintains an organized, clean, and safe work area using 6S guidelines and participates in audits as required
    • Liaise with other functional groups and departments to support operational capabilities, changes, and improvements and to communicate timelines and deliverables to complete projects on time.
    • Ensure activities meet and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care
    • Execute all responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards as established by company policies and procedures

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a technical field
    • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Background in metal stamping and metal fabrication manufacturing preferred
    • Knowledge of principles and practices of lean manufacturing
    • P&L experience to understand and positively impact financial performance
    • Experience maintaining quality systems (ISO 9001:2015 preferred)
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and computer skills including data analysis from Excel and ERP reporting
    • Demonstrated ability to schedule within and through ERP systems
    • Exceptional communication skills and leadership experience
