Title: Plant Manager
Shift: Day Shift
Pay: $100k-$125k(+/- depending on experience) plus 20% bonus
Location: Tucker County, WV
Plant Manager Role:
The Plant Manager is responsible for managing the manufacturing and related operations of the facility to promote and ensure a safe work environment; develop and implement Lean principles; achieve quality metrics; ensure on-time delivery and shipment goals are met; fair work practices are followed; regulatory and policy compliance requirements are met; continuous improvement goals, optimization of people, equipment, materials, and other assets are achieved. The Plant Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring short, medium, and long-range operational plans and processes that maximize the financial performance of the business.
Plant Manager Responsibilities:
Demonstrates company values and shares the organizational commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and a high-performance workforce through positive employee relations.
• Leads a behavior-based safety culture by setting a positive example and ensuring employees are engaged
in all activities in a safe manner; monitoring, enforcing, and complying with environmental, health and safety (EHS) policies and regulations.
• Follows all environmental health and safety (EHS) policies, practices, protocols, and regulations. Proactively addresses any potential EHS issues and reports any unsafe conditions. Sets a positive example regarding EHS and a safety-first culture.
• Maintains a clean and orderly (6S) work area and equipment to ensure a safe and productive work environment and quality products.
• Solicits employee feedback regarding safety; implement improvements to ensure a safe workplace; supports participation in the Safety Team and acts as a member.
• Ensures the ethical achievement of company goals related to customer satisfaction (Quality, On-Time Delivery, Responsiveness).
• Prepares and manages annual and long-range plans, to include safety, quality, customer service, shipments, variances, productivity improvement, capital investment, and inventory for the site. Analyzes variances, compiling, and studying costs and trends, and taking proactive measures to drive continuous performance improvements.
• Drives the creation and implementation of quality and continuous improvement initiatives, in collaboration with applicable management, which enable functional areas to meet or exceed plan.
• Maintains direct responsibility for the quality of all products manufactured.
• Establishes and attains operational goals and metrics(Key Performance Indicators – KPIs). Utilizes a weekly cadence to measure progress of all transformational activities including Productivity, Inventory, Lean, People, and Communications using an organized operating system.
• Monitors equipment and ensures equipment is maintained in good working order to minimize unplanned downtime and expense. Repairs or replaces plant equipment as needed, budgeting and obtaining approval for purchase as required.
• Monitors production schedule, attendance, and scheduled time off to ensure appropriate staffing levels, making necessary adjustments to maintain quality and delivery reliability with minimization of labor costs.
• Works as an effective leader by proactively communicating, collaborating with, and supporting
supervisors.
• Maintains excellent relationships with plant workforce. Builds a performance-driven culture through talent development in the organization that includes a strong succession plan.
• Mentors, coaches, and engages team; provides timely performance feedback. Drives employee
engagement programs with a strong focus on recognition. Employs progressive management practices to engage and develop employees, ensures performance management (including timely and effective formal and informal performance feedback), rewards and recognizes positive actions, promotes multi-directional communication, and addresses employee concerns in a timely fashion.
• In collaboration with Human Resources, screens, interviews, selects, and assists with the onboarding process of new hires.
• Manages processes related to human resources, such as training; coaching and corrective actions, scheduling, time keeping, pay and position changes; performance review processes and employee accountability; hiring and terminations; policy and procedure compliance, employee development, etc.
• Participates in the development of policies and procedures to effectively manage the business.
• Ensures company policies and procedures are always followed.
• Performs other responsibilities as assigned and/or as needed to support company objectives
• Meets on-site and other attendance requirements to effectively build positive relationships and interact with all employees
About you:
• 2-5 years of experience as a Plant or Operations Manager in a made-to-order manufacturing (Degree in Business or Mechanical Engineering is a plus but not required)
• Proven experience in plant operations
• Understanding of regulatory requirements for operating plants
• Root cause analysis and troubleshooting experience in operational environment
• Mechanically inclined, ability to understand processes and problem solving
• Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively at all levels
• Excellent leadership skills to manage a diverse workforce fairly, consistently, professionally, and effectively, in line with company core values and culture goals
