    ABOUT THE COMPANY:

    Leading global supplier of engineered rubber and plastic profile extrusions serving industrial, agricultural and transportation industries. Its technologies are focused on utilizing unique rubber and compound formulations to create complex, application-specific solutions to meet demanding customer applications.     SUMMARY: The Extruder Operator is responsible for plastic stock material handling, extruder and general maintenance, extruder set-up and operation, and finished good testing and running and set up of extrusion lines.

    Starting pay for this role is $ 21.94/hr, which includes a shift differential for 2nd shift. Normal hours are 2pm-10pm.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Operation of the extrusion lines (plastic) without guidance or assistance

    Material handling of the plastic stock

    Proper release of plastic stock to production

    Set up of extrusion lines and related equipment without guidance or assistance

    Recording of extrusion log sheet

    Daily maintenance of extruders (oil addition, cleaning of the line, etc.)

    Development and maintain extruder set up sheets

    Back up for Line Finisher and Finishing Operator

    Working with supervisors in the development and processing of new parts

    Clean-up and organization of work area

    Compete assigned tasks including set-up of finishing equipment

    Other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

    REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; twist at the waist from left to right; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 55.1 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The physical demands noted above are used when required to handle plastic stock. Load stock trucks, walking the length of 100 feet of extrusion line at least every 15 minutes. The required weight to be lifted is associated to 55.1 lb. bags of plastic, moving stock trucks, moving plastic stock and stringing up the lines. The vision requirements are needed when using calipers and observing 100 feet of extrusion line.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes from the salt bath or airborne particles and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
