The Pleasure Chest, a sex industry leader since 1971, is seeking part-time sex-positive customer service assistants to join our Chicago location family! An ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills and retail background, a flexible schedule – including availability on nights and weekends - a passion for sexual health and an interest in sex education.

CUSTOMER SERVICE/RETAIL SALES JOB DESCRIPTION

CUSTOMER SERVICE/SALES ASSISTANT:

A Customer Assistant is primarily responsible for point of sale. This includes communicating information about the materials of the toys to the customer and any manufacturer’s warranties, battery-testing all toys, and making any relevant point of sale purchase recommendations (such as batteries, toy accessories, etc). Customer Assistants will need to be comfortable using a computer. General knowledge of Eagle POS software a plus.

Customer Assistants are also expected to greet customers as they enter the store, be aware of all promotions, discounts, coupons and cross-promotions that The Pleasure Chest is running, and to participate in a core sex education training and maintain a general knowledge of products in the store by also attending periodic, mandatory in-service trainings.

All Customer Assistants are eligible to test for Sex Specialist eligibility after 90 days of employment with the Pleasure Chest, or any point after that when they are prepared.

STORE UPKEEP:

Customer Assistants are expected to execute daily upkeep tasks including restocking and cleaning especially during “down time.” Customer Assistants will be expected to assist in any special projects, i.e. merchandising, organization projects, special events, etc. that are assigned in addition to regular daily upkeep. Customer Assistants will need to be able to lift up to 20 lbs. and handle minor store maintenance.

PAY:

Our Customer Assistant starting wage is $14.00/hr. Customer Assistants will also receive a cut of the daily split commission (currently commissions are paid at a floor or minimum of $2.00/hr guaranteeing at least $16.00/hr) and are eligible for sales bonuses when monthly sales goals are reached. Customer Assistants will be eligible for incremental, performance-based raises only at the time of their yearly review.  We're currently hiring part time only, but when employees go to full time they'll be offered vision, health and dental insurance packages.
