Water Treatment - Chemical Sales Engineer - Grand Rapids
JOB DESCRIPTION
The CHEMICAL SALES ENGINEER position involves selling various types of chemicals to industrial customers, manufacturing companies, commercial facilities and other users of specialty chemicals. The candidate organizes plans and directs all sales activity for both established as well as prospective accounts.
The successful candidate will be part of our newest class of Chemical Sales Engineers and will complete an intense, 8 week comprehensive training program with both field and classroom work. This industry leading program prepares our new hires for a successful career in water treatment and allows them to engage with mentors, peers and industry veterans who are all invested in helping them succeed.
The primary responsibility of a chemical sales specialist is to promote and sell water treatment products and services by interacting with established customers and new prospects as well as developing new territories. The successful candidate will develop excellent technical knowledge of the company products and services and their application to customer needs and requirements. The Chemical Sales Engineer also quotes prices, terms of sales and delivery dates to customers. Other important duties include familiarizing customers with new and existing products by securing samples, literature and specifications, establishing personal relationships through sales calls and providing market intelligence to the management.
The minimum educational qualification required is a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science or similar fields from an accredited institution. Prior sales experience is a plus. A successful candidate also possesses good negotiation, communication, computer and interpersonal skills. Effective written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to prepare & deliver presentations, quotations, etc. to customers. Proficient in the use of a variety of computer applications including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PP, Outlook), and internet resources. Additionally, must have a valid Driver’s License, acceptable motor vehicle record, willingness to travel within regional territory, and must be able to lift minimum of 50lbs., climb ladders and stairs.
