    Overview

    This is a part-time (approx. 25 to 30 hours per week) with potential to be a full-time position.

    In this position you would be the accountant for a one-person accounting department. You would be solely responsible to perform the day-to-day finance operations including responsibility for all of the accounting (financial and cost), financial statement preparation, cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and human resources, purchasing and grants administration.

    The accountant will ensure that the Police Athletic League of Parsippany Troy Hills (“the PAL”) continues to follow the systems and procedures that are in place to support effective program implementation and to safeguard the assets of the PAL. The PAL has been in operation for almost 60 years and provides the children and adults of Parsippany and the local surrounding towns with sports and enrichment programs.

    Job Description

    · Perform all aspects of the accounts payable function.

    · Record in QuickBooks weekly revenue receipts.

    · Perform all aspects of payroll including processing the bi-weekly payroll through ADP, onboarding new employees, overseeing the 401Kplan, and overseeing the State of New Jersey paid sick pay plan.

    · Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations and periodic financial account analysis.

    · Prepare monthly financial reporting for the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

    · Coordinate with the independent audit firm to provide information for the annual financial audit.

    · Prepare annual Federal Form 1099 information returns.

    · Assist Executive Director in finding, evaluating and applying for potential grants and prepare grant expense reporting on a timely basis.

    · Prepare annual operating budget for the PAL and program cost analysis of all of the PAL programs.

    · Collaborate with the other employees of the PAL to order program equipment and supplies and building equipment and supplies in a cost-effective manner.

    Education and Experience

    BS/BA in Accounting

    3-6 years not for profit accounting experience and 7 to 10 years overall accounting experience

    Skills & Abilities

    Strong accounting skills in all aspects of the accounting cycle.

    Basic knowledge of cost accounting and analysis.

    Budgeting experience

    Organized and detail oriented.

    Flexible to respond to, prioritize, and perform varying tasks.

    Technical Knowledge & Experience

    Proficient in QuickBooks desktop

    High level of knowledge of excel and word.
