  • Responsibilities

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE

    The Human Resources Intern will assist with creating and implementing a 30-day New Hire Training/Orientation Program that will ensure proper onboarding and training for new employees at our production plant.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS / DUTIES OF THE POSITION

    • Assist Human Resources staff with weekly New Hire Orientation
    • Support manufacturing plant recruitment process by conducting phone and on-site interviews
    • Conduct research regarding onboarding and orientation best practices
    • Survey produce industry to collect information regarding onboarding and training programs within the industry
    • Assist with filing and database management
    • Investigate alternatives for daily attendance tracking of hourly employees
    • Create and deliver a final presentation to the executive team of Dole Fresh Vegetables.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    INTERNSHIP DETAILS

    • Summer 2025, 12-week internship
    • 100% onsite (not a remote internship)
    • Pay Rate: $20 - $22 per hour
    • No relocation or housing assistance provided

    Required Skills

    JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

    • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
    • Bi-lingual, Spanish/English or French-Creole/English is preferred
    • Basic statistical analysis skills
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze data
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with employees at all levels of an organization
    • Excellent time management, organization skills, and ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
    • Intern must have reliable personal transportation

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear.
    • Ability to maneuver around an array of equipment, bend, stoop, climb stairs, lift up to 25 pounds, identify and distinguish colors, and work in a cold environment.

    WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

    • 40-hour workweek
    • No overtime expected
    • 12-week internship
    • No travel expected

    Required Experience

    EDUCATION LEVEL AND FIELDS OF STUDY

    Fall 2025 rising junior, senior or graduate student obtaining a degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or a related field
