Position Summary:
Supervises a team of HRR pontoon employees that may include Greeters, Photographers, and River Guides. Ensures that the team is providing outstanding customer service by providing such services as greeting, orientating, taking photographs, providing information regarding the Grand Canyon, Colorado River, Hualapai tourism offerings and taking passengers on pontoon boat tours. Manages the daily pontoon operation following safety procedures, overseeing the maintenance of equipment and boats, scheduling river guides and making sure there is adequate staff coverage. Handles inventory of supplies and equipment. Supervises daily inspections of all equipment prior to, during and upon conclusion of each trip for defects, damages and general safety precautions. Responsible for daily sales reports and passenger counts of pontoon operation. Reconciles vouchers with the ticketing system. Completes reports regarding operation of business, as directed. Handles daily work schedules and ensures all daily tasks are completed.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and interact with guests and staff in a clear, concise manner providing prompt, outstanding customer service.
Demonstrated ability to physically complete and have the knowledge to perform maintenance on equipment and boats.
Ability to routinely walk, stand, bend and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in outdoor environment for long periods of time.
Demonstrated ability to foster a team environment, multi-task, work in a fast paced environment and maintain positive working relationships. Good client/customer service skills and well organized.
Possess a valid CPR/First Aid Certificate. Must pass a physical examination regarding ability to perform strenuous capabilities of position.
Ability to lead, coach, train, develop and motivate team members.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Direct Supervision of a team of pontoon employees which may include Greeters, Photographers and River Guides. Coordinate daily work schedules, ensure all positions have adequate coverage and make sure all daily tasks are completed.
Ensure proper safety and health policies and procedures are in place and being followed for the safety of guests and staff.
Lead, coach, train, develop and motivate team members.
Responsible for inventory control of equipment, motors, maintenance and supplies. Provide monthly report of inventory, supplies and equipment to Operations Manager. Coordinate purchases needed.
Responsible for the condition and maintenance of equipment, motors and pontoon boats.
Responsible for daily sales reports and passenger counts. Reconcile vouchers and the ticketing system.
May compile reports to show statistics, expenditures, receipts and other pertinent business operations items.
Perform regular and timely Performance Evaluation discussions and documentation with members of team and promote team environment while providing individual growth opportunities.
Ensure all communications are shared with employees in a timely and accurate manner, as appropriate.
Answer visitor/tourists questions, gives directions, share information about the Grand Canyon, Colorado River, Hualapai River Running and the Hualapai history and culture, etc.
Handle emergency situations or unhappy customers and take action to remedy the situation.
Foster a team environment, multi-task effectively and maintain positive working relationships. Train new employees on all job functions and assist them in becoming comfortable in their roles as Hualapai ambassadors.
Keep the Operations Manager – HRR apprised of all issues and concerns.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Good oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.
Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.
High School Diploma or GED.
Possess a valid CPR/First Aid Certification.
Experience as a Pontoon/River Guide and prior leadership experience preferred.
Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.
Working Conditions:
Position requires ability to work in an outdoor environment for long periods of time, regardless of weather conditions. Must be able to routinely walk, stand, bend and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. as part of duties. Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays.
