Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable individual to join our team as a Porter Associate for Apartment Turnovers. The position will report directly to and will maintain consistent communication with the Housekeeping & Apartment Turnover Manager for coordination of all work activities. The ideal candidate is responsible for the thorough cleaning and preparation of vacant apartment units for new residents. This includes a wide range of tasks to ensure units are presented in a clean, safe, and move-in ready condition.
This position requires driving a personal vehicle on behalf of the company; therefore, the prospective employee must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, and maintain insurance coverage of at least the minimum amount required by California law.
Responsibilities
Thorough Cleaning:
Deep clean all surfaces within the unit, including walls, ceilings, floors, windows, and appliances.
Clean and sanitize bathrooms and kitchens, including toilets, sinks, tubs/showers, countertops, and appliances.
Remove all debris, cobwebs, and dust.
Bag and throw away any remaining tenant personal items from the apartment.
Remove unneeded tenant furniture left in the apartment.
Clean carpets and/or flooring as needed (may include vacuuming, mopping, and scrubbing).
Remove any stains or marks on walls, floors, and appliances.
Unit Preparation:
Replace light bulbs, filters, and batteries as needed.
Test and ensure proper functioning of all appliances (e.g., stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, A/C).
Inspect and repair minor maintenance issues (e.g., touch-up paint, replace broken fixtures).
Ensure all units are free of pests and rodents.
Perform minor repairs as directed by the direct Supervisor.
Furniture Assembly:
Assemble furniture according to manufacturer’s instructions using hand and power tools.
Inspect and identify damaged or missing components prior to assembly.
Maintain an organized and safe working environment.
Deliver assembled furniture to the unit or property, if required.
Ensure the quality and functionality of assembled furniture.
Follow safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
Address customer queries and complaints regarding the assembled furniture.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures.
Properly use and maintain all cleaning equipment and chemicals.
Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Physical Demands:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.).
Repetitive motions, such as scrubbing and cleaning.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in apartment turnover, cleaning and furniture assembly or a similar role is preferred.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to read and interpret assembly instructions.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Manual dexterity and physical stamina.
Ability to lift and move bulky and heavy objects at least 50 pounds continuously.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Basic math skills.
Reliable and punctual.
Compensation
Pay rate of $20.00 - $22.00 per hour full-time employment paid on a bi-weekly basis.
75% Employer-sponsored health insurance is available after a 90-day probationary period.
1-week paid vacation accrual starting after 90-day probationary period.
Reimbursement for mileage based on actual mileage and State of CA reimbursement guidelines.
Use of company issued tablet.
Use of company issued internet enabled cellular phone.
All supplies are provided by management.
