D1 Sports Franchise, headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee. The company has 115 locations open and more than 200 locations in development. D1 has trained over 100 NFL Draft picks, 3,000 collegiate athletes, and over 100,000 scholastic athletes.

    Position Overview:

    The Controller will be responsible for managing the accounting function for multiple entities, each with their own bookkeeper or staff accountant. This role involves consolidating financials, ensuring compliance with private equity and lender reporting requirements, managing the valuation process for acquisitions, and leading the consolidated audit and tax preparation in collaboration with our outside accounting firm. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in managing multiple business units, consolidation, and implementing new processes in a fast-paced environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Financial Management:

    Oversee the accounting functions for multiple entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

    Collect and consolidate financial records from individual entities.

    Ensure compliance with private equity and lender reporting requirements.

    Consolidation and Reporting:

    Prepare consolidated financial statements and reports.

    Develop and maintain financial consolidation processes and systems.

    Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.

    Compliance and Audits:

    Manage compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

    Lead the consolidated audit process in collaboration with external auditors.

    Coordinate tax preparation and filing with our outside accounting firm.

    Valuation and Acquisitions:

    Manage the valuation process for acquisitions, including due diligence and financial analysis.

    Integrate new acquisitions into the consolidated financial reporting structure.

    Process Improvement:

    Develop and implement new accounting processes and controls to support a fast-growing company.

    Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.

    Foster a culture of creativity and problem-solving within the finance team.

    Team Leadership:

    Provide guidance and oversight to bookkeepers and accountants across entities.

    Ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting and record-keeping.

    Mentor and develop the finance team to support professional growth and development.

    Qualifications:

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is strongly preferred.

    Experience:

    Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on managing multiple business units and financial consolidation.

    Proven experience in compliance with private equity and lender reporting requirements.

    Experience in managing valuations and acquisitions.

    Strong background in leading audits and tax preparation.

    Technical Skills:

    Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting systems.

    Strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.

    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

    Soft Skills:

    Excellent leadership and team management skills.

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    Creativity and willingness to develop new processes and solutions.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience in a fast-growing company or start-up environment.

    Familiarity with private equity structures and reporting requirements.

    Advanced knowledge of consolidation accounting and financial reporting tools.
