The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $45.00 per hour based on the national average.
Job Description
The Renewance PCS Services Technician will provide technical support for energy storage systems with a specialized focus on power conversion systems (PCS), switchgear, and inverter technologies. The Field Service Technician must be able to diagnose and resolve technical issues to ensure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the product life. Responsibilities:
- Install and commission battery energy storage systems, power conversion systems, switchgear, power inverters, and related products.
- Install and configure controls-related firmware necessary to communicate with and control the battery system and associated power electronics.
- Support ‘cold' commissioning (electrical checks using auxiliary power) and ‘hot' commissioning of battery systems (energized electrical checks), including resolving performance issues related to batteries, power inverters, and other components.
- Develop or assist in creating test procedures for power electronics systems and execute them on existing or newly developed designs.
- Provide diagnosis, fault isolation and technical support for common PCS and switchgear issues like:
- Low voltage, medium voltage and high voltage circuit breaker failures
- Faulty protective relays, loose connection tightening
- Common component failure
- Insulation degradation
- Perform preventative maintenance, system upgrades, and corrective actions on batteries, power inverters, and switchgear, testing for proper functionality
- Communicate directly with the customer on all aspects of project execution, including accurate and timely daily reporting.
- Coordinate return and repair of defective parts in support of warranty claims.
- Travel to and remain at assigned jobsites until assigned tasks are completed.
- Manage field tools for field assignments/projects.
- Ensure excellence in all operational areas.
Requirements
- High school diploma and introductory college coursework. A degree in a technical field is preferred.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in electrical technician and services, with a focus on power conversion systems, switchgear and transformers, power inverters, or energy storage systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and certifications.
- Experience with computers, including installation of controls-related firmware and software.
- Fluent with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team.
- Fast learner, capable of managing multiple projects and objectives.
- Self-directed, highly detail-oriented, organized, and flexible.
- Demonstrated accomplishments reflecting leadership, teamwork, integrity, and accountability.
- Willingness to travel and work with customers.
Desirable
- Knowledge of battery standards, power conversion systems, switchgear, power inverter technologies, and related safety procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, analyze, and interpret data.
- Accomplishments in meeting project/program goals while satisfying quality, performance, schedule, and cost requirements.
- Project and people management experience.
- Demonstrated accomplishments in customer-focused problem-solving.
Travel & Location
Preferred locations are Arizona, Nevada, Southern California, and Texas, though other locations will be considered. Requires 75% or more travel to customer sites.
