Position Summary
The vSEM coach is responsible for implementing energy efficiency projects, leading workshops, and designing and implementing a participating customer's employee engagement activities for participating utility customers. In this role, the vSEM coach will analyze interval (60, 30, and 15-minute) smart meter electricity data, building information, virtual energy management assessments, identify drivers of energy consumption at participating facilities, and lead conversations and workshops for participants to help them reduce energy consumption and develop an organizational awareness of energy efficiency as a strategic company objective.
**The Job
** The primary role of the vSEM Coach is to implement a holistic approach to managing energy in order to continuously improve energy performance, achieving persistent energy and cost savings over the long term. The Coach focuses on business practices that impact every person at the participant's business including organizational culture to reduce unnecessary energy usage and introduce improved behavioral and operational changes. In addition to data analysis, strategy development, and the identification of low-cost energy savings opportunities, the Coach is responsible for the outreach and engagement to prospective business customers. **

Responsibilities of the vSEM Coach _
Customer Commitment:_ ****
- Gaining customer commitment by setting, framing, and communicating longer-term energy management objectives and goals.
- Ensuing that the participant has secured resources to be successful.
Planning and Implementation:
- Assessing and formally scoring current energy management practices
- Developing a breakdown of costs and energy uses across the participant's site.
- Establishing site-specific measurable goals for energy improvement.
- Describing the prioritized and timeline actions that must be implemented to reap the benefits for the participant including operations and maintenance, awareness and behavioral efforts, procurement of energy efficiency equipment.
- Engaging with participant's employees about the energy impacts of their activities, creating empowering actions within each work area and working with participants to encourage ideas that benefit and impact the customer.
- Working with participants to improve their business processes and ensure that operational changes persist through these new practices and processes.
- Regularly reviewing energy performance by comparing goals, metrics, and interval data.
- Ensuring timely implementation of project milestones for utility programs including:
- Conducting Energy Management Assessments and Action Plans
- Drafting monthly progress reports and year-end reports
- Leading webinars and delivering online SEM curriculum in a dynamic and engaging way in both group settings and one-on-one
- Acting as facilitator, trainer and relationship builder
- Working closely with energy teams and individuals to:
- Inspire culture change
- Help identify energy efficiency measures
- Engage and empower employees
- Keep participants involved and accountable for actions leading to energy savings
- Coach companies through incorporating Strategic Energy Management principles into their business practices
Measurement and Reporting:
- Regularly working with the embedded measurement and verification team to understand energy use.
- Collecting and reviewing performance metrics to track progress over time.
- Continuously analyzing energy data.
- Reporting and communicating the results, prioritization of projects, and achievements with participant, utility, and internal stakeholders.
Requirements
- Utility, buildings, and, energy efficiency experience
- Ability to analyze and interpret data and solve practical problems
- Facilitation skills for small and large groups
- Energy management knowledge (CEM or equivalent)
- Knowledge of facility systems and equipment
- Able to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong soft skills with ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
- Active listening and persuasive speaking
- Adult learning best practices
- Able to lead large group presentations
- Experience facilitating adult learning
- Hands on experience with energy management in commercial settings
- Background in construction, HVAC, mechanical, or buildings
- 3 years experience coaching in an energy advisory or SEM role (preferred)
- 2 years of team management experience (preferred)
**Location & Travel **
- This is a remote position and a fully remote company.
- Power TakeOff does have ties to Denver, Colorado, and Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, with a number of employees based in those markets.
- Travel not required, but Power TakeOff does have events on occasion and pays for travel and accommodations for them.
