Power Technical – Assistant Principal
Reports To: Principal Campus: Power Technical (PTEC)
Job Overview
Assist the Principal in managing instructional programs and supervising operations and personnel at the campus level. Provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service and data-driven decision-making. Support compliance with James Irwin and District 49 policies, the success of instructional programs, and the operation of campus activities. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes the school's mission of skilled trades education and character development.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Colorado Principal License is preferred but not required.
- Candidates must demonstrate how their degree and experience contribute to leadership capabilities.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Experience in skilled trades or working in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program.
- Proficiency in or ability to quickly learn systems such as Infinite Campus and NWEA MAP Growth.
- Strong understanding of curriculum, instructional methodologies, and CTE program requirements.
- Technical proficiency in tools and platforms such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Workspace, and data management systems.
- Ability to assess teaching effectiveness, interpret data, and implement school improvement strategies.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of Special Education and Section 504 compliance.
Experience:
- Five years of classroom teaching experience, preferably in skilled trades or traditional secondary education.
- Leadership experience, such as department chair, instructional coach, or dean of students.
- Practical experience in trades or CTE education is highly desirable.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Collaborate with the Principal to monitor instructional and managerial processes, ensuring alignment with program goals and outcomes.
- Support the implementation of the school’s mission and vision through strategic planning and communication.
- Assist in developing and maintaining strong CTE programs that align with industry standards and workforce needs.
- Manage student discipline in collaboration with the Dean of Students and Director of Safety, ensuring adherence to the Student Code of Conduct.
- Evaluate and provide feedback to teaching staff to enhance instructional quality and effectiveness.
- Oversee and ensure compliance with data management tools, including Infinite Campus and NWEA MAP Growth, for student performance tracking and reporting.
- Promote a culture of high expectations for student achievement, behavior, and character development.
- Assist in professional development planning and execution to ensure staff proficiency in technical and instructional practices.
- Act as a liaison between students, parents, staff, and administration to resolve conflicts and address concerns.
- Contribute to budget planning and resource allocation in collaboration with the Principal and business office.
- Oversee campus events and ensure alignment with school goals and safety protocols.
