    Job Description

    Position Overview:

    The Pre-K Specials Teacher at KIPP Kansas City is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in a designated special subject area (e.g., art, music, physical education) to Pre-K students. This role aims to foster creativity, self-expression, and physical development in young learners through engaging and age-appropriate activities. The Pre-K Specials Teacher will collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate special subjects into the broader curriculum and create a nurturing environment that promotes exploration and joy in learning.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Instructional Excellence:

    • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards and promote creativity, self-expression, and physical development.
    • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences in the special subject area, encouraging students to explore, experiment, and express themselves.
    • Assess student progress and adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.

    Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with classroom teachers to coordinate schedules, integrate specials into the overall curriculum, and share student progress.
    • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about student learning, achievements, and areas for growth.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to school-wide initiatives that support the mission and vision of KIPP Kansas City.

    Classroom Management:

    • Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages respect, collaboration, and joy in learning.
    • Implement effective classroom management strategies to promote appropriate behavior and engagement during specials.
    • Support the social-emotional development of students by fostering positive relationships and providing guidance as needed.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant field (required); specialization in the subject area preferred.
    • Experience teaching young children, particularly in a Pre-K setting (preferred).
    • Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.

    Work Environment

    • Reports to work Monday-Friday and some weekends.
    • A typical school or office environment with frequent interruptions.

    Travel Requirements:

    • Ability to travel to work location.

    Salary is based on years of experience, educational background, and level of expertise.
