The Smith Law Center, established in 1949, is expanding again! We recently hired a pre-litigation attorney, and we are looking to again add to our growing litigation team. We are dedicated to assisting individuals who have suffered severe and catastrophic injuries in the peninsula region of Virginia and beyond. Our office is located in the recently refurbished Joseph Smith Building in historic Downtown Hampton, Virginia. Our team of trial attorneys specializes in representing individuals who have sustained catastrophic injuries, with a particular emphasis on clients with traumatic brain injuries, across the country. We are currently seeking another dedicated attorney to join our pre-litigation team who would oversee case managers, negotiate, and collaborate closely with our trial teams to prepare cases for litigation. Ideal Candidate: The successful candidate will possess high moral character and a commitment to securing the best possible outcomes for our clients. We will consider a remote/hybrid working environment, however, the candidate must live in our geographical area to attend office meetings and functions, as well as practice in our local courts. Salary is negotiable depending on experience. We offer 401(k) profit sharing, and health and dental insurance. Responsibilities: • Supervise a team of pre-litigation case managers, addressing client inquiries and concerns during the pre-suit process, and obtaining updates on their treatment status. • Review pre-suit settlement demands to insurance carriers. • Negotiate with insurance adjusters to secure favorable settlements for the firm’s clients when appropriate. • Ensure timely payment of settlement proceeds from insurance carriers and distribution of net proceeds to the firm’s clients. • Litigate and try to verdict personal injury cases in Virginia’s General District Courts and manage a caseload of Circuit Court cases as experience allows. Qualifications: • Virginia Licensed Attorney. • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience and familiarity with Virginia personal injury law. • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills. • Ability to supervise others and hold them accountable for meeting team goals. • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment. • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. • Proficiency in computer and technology skills. Compensation: $100,000
