    The Preschool Teacher at Brownsville Preparatory Institute is responsible for the academic, behavioral, and social development of the students in their classroom. Brownsville teachers go above and beyond in creating a positive learning environment and an environment of success.

    This is a pool position posting for all pre-school teaching positions.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    Responsible for the supervision and daily class functions for the assigned classroom

    Assess each child’s developmental needs on an ongoing basis.

    Provide children with verbal praises and acceptance while providing precise and consistent expectations for the children’s behavior.

    Accept responsibility for the classroom and common area maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties including the cleaning of spills and bodily fluids. Cleaning should be through including mopping, wiping down surfaces, and changing out the trash.

    Coordinate snacks, meals, nap time, and bathroom activities.

    Plans and implements the approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule using the Brownsville Preparatory Institute curriculum outlines and materials.

    Provides an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages learning and creativity.

    Ensures a consistent stream of communication with parents and guardians on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional progress.

    Continuously monitors student progress through informal and formal assessments.

    Maintain the Brownsville Preparatory Institute professional attitude and work behavior.

    Assist in other capacities as determined by administration.

    Attend all required staff meetings, workshops, and functions as determined by administration.

    Observe all rules and regulations of Brownsville Preparatory Institute and the local, state, or national regulatory agencies about the health, safety, and care of children.

    Maintain overall professional personal appearances adhering to the guidelines of the staff handbook.

    Qualifications

    DCF 40 Hour Training and 5 hour Early Literacy training within 90 days.

    10 hours of annual Continuing Education as required by DCF.

    Cleared background check as required by the Department of Children and Families before the first day of work.

    Ability to work in a team setting.

    Able to lift up to 35 lbs.

    Ability to maintain distraction free throughout the work day (including use of cellular phones and other personal electronics).

    First Aid and CPR certification within 90 days.
