Preconstruction Assistant

Independence Excavating is seeking a talented Preconstruction Assistant to join our strategically growing team! The Preconstruction Assistant will focus their efforts in supporting the estimating and preconstruction team by managing administrative tasks, compiling project data, preparing bid documents, coordinating with subcontractors, and assisting with estimating to facilitate the initial planning phase of projects prior to construction begins. This individual will be critical in keeping organized and detailed support to ensure a smooth transition from concept to construction.

A typical day looks like:

• Organizing and maintaining documentation for project drawings, specifications, and management of digital filings.
• Assist in assembling and organizing bid packages, including quantity takeoffs, subcontractors, and costs.
• Provide support and assistance in developing accurate project budgets by putting together material and labor costs.
• Management of subcontractors and vendors communication as well as potential subcontractors and vendors.
• Coordination of meetings for preconstruction meetings, taking minutes and distribution of action items.
• Assist in preparation of project proposals for clients which includes scope of work and pricing details.

Do you have what it takes?

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Detail-oriented with excellent accuracy

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction-specific software

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams

• Basic understanding of construction principles and estimating methodologies

• Some experience in the construction industry is beneficial

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field preferred
