We are looking for an experienced Prep Cook at Gustav's! You will be preparing and cooking a variety of dishes and many classic german recipes for restaurant guests to enjoy.
You are passionate about creating exceptional dining experiences through good, quality food. With previous experience as a prep cook, you are able to manage multiple priorities and contribute to a friendly and productive team atmosphere. Ideally, we are looking for individuals who want to grow within our culinary team.
Our ideal candidate has an attention for detail, possess solid knife technique, and can manage multiple prep-projects at one time. You excel at keeping an organized and clean walk-in and are committed to ensuring that your co-workers do the same. You take seriously the responsibility of tracking waste and communicate with your managers when something in the waste log is of concern.

Summary of Position:
Cook and prepare a variety of food products including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, stocks, breads and other food products using a variety of equipment and utensils according to the Daily Prep List.
Duties & Responsibilites:
Complete opening and closing checklists.
Refer to Daily Prep List and Checklists at the start of each shift for assigned duties.
Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
Understands and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, walls, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations.
Assists others in closing the kitchen.
Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.
Promptly reports equipment and food quality problems to Kitchen Manager.
Inform Kitchen Manager immediately of product shortages.
Uses our Standard Recipe Card for preparing all products.
Do not rely on the memory of yourself or other employees. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager, Chef or manager-on-duty.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a prep cook preferred.
Have working knowledge of the predominant language(s) of our guests.
Attention for detail
Teachable.
Food Handler’s certification (or must be willing to attain)
Effective communication skills
Ability to lift 30+ lbs
Ability to work standing for 8+ hours
