Job Summary: The Prep Cook ensures all food items' quality, consistency, and production. They are required to cook and prepare various food products, including seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, stocks, bread, and other food products, using various equipment and utensils according to the Daily Prep List.
Duties and Responsibilities
Wash, peel, and cut various foods to prepare for cooking.
Prepare all items consistently to company recipes and standards
Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of assigned station and the rest of the kitchen.
Handles all food items by washing, chopping, and cutting according to recipe specifications.
Labels and stores all products following company and safety standards.
Receive and store food supplies, equipment, and utensils in refrigerators, cupboards, and other storage areas.
Promptly inform management when equipment is not working properly.
Complete opening and closing checklists and assist others in opening and closing the kitchen.
Possesses in-depth knowledge of assigned recipes and can produce them to company standards.
Follow all direction provided by the Kitchen Manager
Communicate and support co-workers while being a team player.
Communicates product needs to line cooks, support staff, and Kitchen Manager.
Understand and comply with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules, police, and procedures.
Assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed and provide cooks with needed items.
Fill in for fellow team members where needed to ensure quality and service standards are met.
Arrives appropriately dressed and ready to work on time.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience
Prep or line cook experience is a plus.
Ability to work holidays, even if their regular scheduled days do not fall on the holiday.
Physical requirements: You must be able to do heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and remain on your feet for up to 10 hours at a time.
Portrays a positive and professional attitude.
Ability to work in a hot, wet, humid, and loud environment for long periods of time at a fast pace.
