Job Summary: The HIV PrEP Navigator plays a crucial role in supporting the local health department's efforts in mitigating the spread of HIV. This position involves providing navigation services to individuals seeking PrEP, ensuring they have access to necessary resources, and promoting overall sexual health and wellness. The PrEP Navigator will work closely with healthcare providers, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance PrEP awareness and uptake in the community.
Responsibilities:
- Client Navigation:
- Guide individuals through the process of accessing PrEP services, including eligibility assessments and insurance verification.
- Provide information on PrEP, its benefits, and potential side effects.
- Assist clients in overcoming barriers to PrEP initiation and adherence.
- Education and Outreach:
- Conduct community outreach to raise awareness about PrEP and its availability.
- Collaborate with local organizations, schools, and community groups to educate the public on sexual health and PrEP options.
- Develop and distribute educational materials to promote PrEP awareness.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Providers:
- Foster strong relationships with healthcare providers to facilitate seamless referrals for PrEP services.
- Collaborate with clinicians to ensure clients receive comprehensive sexual health care in addition to PrEP.
- Data Collection and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of clients served.
- Compile and submit reports on PrEP utilization, barriers, and successes to relevant stakeholders.
- Community Engagement:
- Represent the health department at community events and engage with the public to address questions and concerns related to PrEP.
- Organize and participate in events to promote sexual health and prevention strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (public health, social work, etc.). Preferred
- Experience in public health, sexual health education, or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of PrEP and current practices in sexual health.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community stakeholders.
- Sensitivity to issues related to sexual health and confidentiality.
