CHEF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks for 175-200 children (infants through 3rd grade) that meet proper nutritional requirements. Experience cooking meals from scratch and using fresh fruits and vegetables.
Ensure the safety of all children by maintaining and tracking food allergies for each child in our private preschool. Ensures all children receive only allowed foods and provides alternatives for children with allergy or dietary restrictions.
and communicate identified allergies to teachers daily with every food delivery.
Adhere to proper food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures ensuring that food is stored and handled properly
Maintains a clean kitchen after preparation and serving of meals, maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
Manage and purchase all food and paper good supplies necessary and keep inventory records as required by local and state agencies
Complies with all Bright from the Start and Serv/Safe regulations.
Provide excellent customer service and positive attitude towards parents and children, listens and communicates effectively
Demonstrates flexibility to the daily business need of a childcare center
Work with school leaders and classroom teachers to ensure daily mealtime schedules and routines are consistent
CHEF REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
3+ years of experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably in similar environment such as childcare canter, elder care/assisted living, K-12 schools
Comprehensive criminal background check and drug testing required
Willing and able to obtain and maintain Serv/Safe Certification, Basic First Aid and CPR and other Bright from the Start mandated training.
Experience in quality and quantity food preparation and inventory control.
Knowledge of nutrition, basic food preparation and food sanitation
Regular attendance is an essential requirement of the position in order to offer children and parents consistency
Possess a teamwork mindset, strong communication skills, organization skills and problem-solving ability
Ability to build rapport with children, families and peers
Positive and patient demeanor
Physical requirements: Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pulling, pushing, grasping, hearing, talking, and repetitive motion are physical requirements of the position.
The hours for the Chef are Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
