Job description
· Ensure a safe, happy, and stimulating environment for children and staff.
· Create and adhere to a daily schedule ensuring a proper balance for students
· Create weekly lesson plans a minimum of one week prior to their implementation
· Manage and coordinate curriculum with staff that complies with state and federal requirements.
· Evaluate and request the purchase of materials, equipment, and supplies to supervisors.
· Support teaching staff and promote their professional development.
· Complete ongoing training and courses to remain up to date on daycare standards and procedures.
· Communicate with parents regarding their children and center events.
· Provide supervision, leadership, and support to all center staff.
· Conduct ongoing informal and annual formal performance evaluations of center staff.
· Report suspected neglect and/or child abuse by staff or parents to DCFS.
· Fulfill requests pertaining to the center’s well-being by the owner.
· Substitute/assist for staff when needed.
· Create media promoting the center.
· Implement and enforce center policies.
· Orient new employees on center procedures/policies
*The Head Teacher position is an Exempt Position as defined under FLSA and may require the employee to work more than 40 hours per week whether that be on or off site.
Position Requirements:
Master's Degree in Education OR Master's Degree in any field other than Education Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, Health Care, Nursing, or any other field related to Child Growth and Development OR Teaching Certification from Department of Education in Elementary Education, Nursery School, Preschool through Third Grade (P-3) or Teacher of the Handicapped OR Bachelor's Degree in any field OR Teaching Certification from Department of Education and Nine credits and one year of experience OR Six credits and two years of experience OR Nine credits and three years of experience OR Montessori education equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree Experience Six credits and one year of experience Nine credits and three years of experience OR Six credits and four years of experience OR 9 credits Two years of experience OR Head Teacher endorsement from the New Jersey Registry for Childhood Professionals, Professional Impact New Jersey
