PRESCHOOL’S PHILOSOPHY
PCC Preschool is a ministry of Peninsula Covenant Church. We are a play-based program committed to the development of the whole child. Our staff is committed to excellence, preparing quality and safe learning environments for children, engaging in fruitful learning experiences, and are proactive about being creative in planning and administering lessons, and fulfilling their responsibilities. Teachers have a desire to support and minister to families in our program.
PRINCIPLE WORKING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the Executive Pastor/Lead Pastor, Preschool Site Director & Lead Teacher. This position also develops healthy relationships with other staff members throughout PCC along with the families & children that are enrolled in our care.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, plan, and implement age-appropriate activities to meet the needs of children in physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual development. Lead classroom set-up plans, engagement with children in free choice, Circle, Small Groups, outdoor activities, and individual observations and assessments (formal and informal).
Potty Training/Diaper Changing as needed
Support the overall goals of the program and follow all relevant policies and procedures of the school.
Take active part in: making copies, shopping for specialty items, locating needed materials, and turning in receipts as needed for reimbursement promptly
Coordinate curriculum activities with the staff and in accordance with the school calendar, themes, and special events.
Ensure children are safe and supervised at all times
Interact with children according to our philosophy- in a calm and respectful manner, nurturing, patient, and loving
Intervene in children’s behavior with positive, respectful techniques, including: clear and positive statements, offering choices, giving natural and logical consequences, and using appropriate problem-solving steps
Participate in school special events
Maintain confidentiality
Build positive relationships with children and families, expressing God’s love and meeting needs as appropriate.
Director Substitute Designation of Facility Responsibility
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
Requires a minimum of 12 ECE units and working towards full requirements of credential program.
Requires Early Childhood Certificate or Child Development Associate Credential preferred. Alternatively, 3 units in each of the following courses may be included:
Child Growth and Development
Early Childhood Education
Child, Family, and Community
Early Childhood Program and Curriculum
Experience working with young children is preferred
Specialized experience in 2-year-olds care preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be in good health (verified by Health Screening Report)
Physically able to lift up to 30 lbs.
Ability to kneel to a child’s level
Requires a recent negative TB test (within a year), verification of MMR, dTAP, and flu shots (flu shot may be waived with approved letter of declined)
Must be mentally and physically capable of providing satisfactory care and safety for the children in care
Must have a clean, current DMV record
DOJ background clearance required
Must adhere to and model PCC’s Safe Church policies
WORKWEEK
This job is Full-time with an average of 40 hours per week
2-3 hours of prep time a week is given to plan curriculum and activities.
This position will require some evening events to promote growth of school.
