POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Field Operating Supervisor (FOS) and the functional direction of the Construction Project Manager (CPM), the Construction Site Representative (CSR) provides direct on-site management of electrical substation construction and related contracts on assigned projects throughout electric utility client service territory. Candidate should be familiar with civil and/or electrical construction means and methods and general safety requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for overseeing all construction related activities, including new construction, retrofits, additions, repairs, testing, inspections, and retirements.
- Understand, administer, and manage the proposed contract that exists between the client and contractor.
- Oversee and ensure safety of all persons on the construction site.
- Protect the interests of the customer while managing the activities of the contractor.
- Understand contract language and be capable of reconciling minor disputes relevant to the contract.
- Evaluation of work scope, resource allocation, and scheduling with the ability to convey such within the client’s responsible department.
- Responsible for the oversight of all construction, administration, and operational activities with minimal assistance from the client’s agent.
- Coordinate, direct, and maintain contacts with contractors, vendors, and customers.
- Strive to identify engineering and operational deficiencies with the goal to recommend improvements.
- Maintain working knowledge of corporation’s construction standards and be able to enforce those standards in the construction environment.
- Maintain working knowledge of clients’ departmental policies and objectives, including any applicable governmental and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate the preparation of schedules, records, and work status with the ability to evaluate work progress for payment purposes.
- Provide recommendations to improve performance and cost effectiveness.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SUCCESS FACTORS:
- Candidates shall possess 6-12 months experience in substation construction, construction management, or a closely related field.
- Understands safe work distances and clearance procedures while working in energized substations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project
