Principal Consulting Engineer

The Ampere Group provides professional consulting services to our utility partners supporting substation, transmission, distribution, and telecommunication projects that are part of their large capital delivery portfolio.
Job Overview:
As a Principal Consulting Engineer, you will play a key role in providing expert technical guidance and strategic direction to our clients. You will leverage your extensive experience and deep understanding of electric meter engineering to identify opportunities support development of client standards and procedures. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to engage with clients effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Act as a subject matter expert in, providing guidance on best practices, architectural designs, and implementation strategies.
- Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with our clients, understanding their business needs and providing tailored solutions that align with their goals.
- Mentorship: Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers and consulting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, product development, and customer support, to ensure cohesive strategies and successful project outcomes.
- Documentation: Develop comprehensive documentation, including engineering standards, technical reports, and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 25+ years of experience in a consulting or engineering role, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
- Deep knowledge of electric meter engineering.
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage deliverables effectively.
- Experience with client-facing interactions and a strong customer service orientation.
