The Data Platform team in the Cortex Xpanse Engineering group is expanding, and we’re looking for a Principal Software Engineer.

In this role, you will select technology stacks, collaborate with other engineers, and own end-to-end delivery of customer-facing features that create the foundation for Xpanse’s Attack Surface Management product. You will draw upon your experience to rapidly investigate and prototype new functionality then switch to implementation mode to deliver products. You will guide and mentor your team in enterprise software development, architecture development, and technology evaluation. You will represent your team in architecture roadmap planning sessions, working regularly with other engineers, architects, and product managers.

You will be a technical leader within the team, with responsibility for mentoring and supporting your team members, building rapport with adjacent teams (to include other engineering teams and the end users), developing features from end to end, and supporting our systems in production. You will collaborate with the rest of the team on architectural direction, managing technical debt, and continuously evolving the team's agile development process.

Your Impact

• Architect and implement scalable ETL and ELT processes to handle data ranging from gigabytes to petabytes in size
• Design and develop distributed streaming pipelines using Java multithreading and Apache Beam frameworks
• Design and optimize data storage and indexing solutions for both real-time streaming and batch processing applications
• Ensure your team delivers high output and mentor other engineers
• Continuously seek ways to make a substantial impact on your team and the broader engineering organization
• Help drive projects from requirements to complete design and implementation
• Anticipate challenges of architecting at scale, align architecture vision with strategic initiatives

Qualifications

Your Experience

• 7+ years of industry experience as a professional software engineer building writing back end software
• Proficiency in designing and developing stream/event-processing architectures using technologies such as Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ, Storm, Spark, or their equivalents
• Excitement to dig in, prototype, build, test, and see projects through to production - results driven, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to balance shipping new products and features with addressing technical debt and investments in architecture and infrastructure
• Solid understanding of various methods and tradeoffs for handling concurrency
• Strong familiarity with databases, data modeling, and performance optimization
• Experience with and opinions about API design and distributed backend systems
• Familiarity with Java
• Have expertise with any of the following: BigQuery, PostgreSQL, BigTable, BigQuery, Apache Beam, database profiling, Terraform is a plus
• Have experience using and enhancing CI/CD systems is a plus

Additional Information

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $147,000/YR - $237,500/YR. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
