    Our Transmission Engineering team is looking for a Principal Transmission Line Engineer. The primary duties include:

    Job Description

    Applies expert knowledge of commonly used transmission concepts, practices, codes, and procedures in the transmission engineering industry

    Use appropriate technology and methodology to select transmission line routes, line layout, and optimization, for new transmission lines or upgrades, and find non-standard design solutions

    Model transmission structures using Power Line Systems (PLS) software including any underbuilds and third-party attachments, guying, and Communication Infrastructure Providers

    Oversee structure design and analysis and prepare loading trees

    Perform quality reviews for transmission projects, including using design-specific tools such as PLS-CADD PLS-TOWER and PLS-POLE

    Work with the engineering team and lead engineers to identify any gap in the quality process and work with the lead engineers to improve the project delivery quality by addressing those gaps

    Coordinate design activities with other disciplines (Civil/structural, telecom, transmission, etc.)

    Creating, improving, facilitating, and teaching training courses to the project team and department

    Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications

    Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the firm in the areas of transmission line and structure projects

    Leads engineering components of projects including preparing budgets, cost estimates and reporting project engineering performance

    Provide guidance and instruction to the transmission engineering department, mentoring, and guiding less experienced engineers

    Identification and communication of technical risks associated with projects

    Analyzes trends in project performance metrics and makes recommendations to the project management team on corrective actions

    Oversight of engineering work required to meet deliverable milestones

    Ensures projects are closed out and archived in a timely manner in accordance with applicable procedure

    Build effective relationships with existing clients, customers and contractors and support the development of new business opportunities. Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction goals are met

    Serves as technical advisor for the team and in most cases, the primary technical point of contact for the client

    Support the client in developing or updating their transmission line design standards on subjects related to transmission structures and grid/fire hardening

    Support proposal development

    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor of Science in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program

    Minimum 12 years of related experience (e.g., routing and design of high voltage overhead transmission line facilities)

    A Professional Engineer licensure (P.Eng in Canada or P.E. in the USA)

    Experience in 69kV to 500kV line design and advanced knowledge in Power Line system-based programs (i.e., PLS Suite including PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, etc.)

    Expert Working knowledge of PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER

    Expert Working knowledge of GO95, NESC and Wildfire Mitigation are a plus

    Expert Knowledge in design, calculations, and design systems/software to execute production

    Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook)

    Strong analytical,and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail

    Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Ability to travel

    Preferred Qualifications

    EPC experience preferred

    A master’s degree is a plus

    This position's base salary range approximation is $165K - $195K, depending on numerous factors such as applicable experience, skills, knowledge, credentials, geographical location, etc.
