Principle Scientist – Genomics (Temporary Contract)
Job Description
Our Principal Scientist role is a temporary contract position. The contract length for this position is ~6 months.
The purpose of this position is to develop high-throughput cutting-edge genomic technologies to better understand disease mechanism and to accelerate the discovery of new targets and biomarkers across therapeutic areas. The incumbent will utilize innovative genetic screening (CRISPR) and multi-omics single cell sequencing approaches (Optical pooled screening, CRISPR-Seq) to impact all stages of the pipeline from pre-clinical to clinical development. In the position, you will collaborate closely with Oncology, Immunology, Neuroscience, Cardiometabolic disease, Pharmacology, and Chemical Biology areas throughout the Discovery, Preclinical and Translational Medicine.
We are seeking a highly motivated scientist with expertise in cell and molecular biology, high-throughput genomic technologies, CRISPR screening and high content imaging to work directly on the client site in Cambridge, MA. The successful candidate will be an active participant in the scientific dialogue of the group and will be able to work independently and proactively collaborate with colleagues.
In this exciting role you will:
Contribute to the planning and execution of experiments to discover new drug targets in multiple therapeutic areas
Work with complex cellular models (primary cells, iPSC-derived cells, 2D and 3D coculture models) in addition to immortalized cell lines
Assist in developing, executing, analyzing and troubleshooting new cell-based assays with disease-relevant phenotypes and determine feasibility and the best approach for CRISPR screens.
Execute large-scale CRISPR screens in pooled and arrayed formats.
Use gene editing and other genomic technologies (transcriptomics, proteomics) to validate potential drug targets.
Communicate results and findings clearly and concisely to teams and stakeholders.
Maintain detailed lab notebook and records of work, help the lab manager maintain laboratory equipment used for experiments.
