Upper mid-west family is seeking talented, warm and professional live-in private chef to manage all daily culinary needs in a dynamic, busy household environment. This is a full-time position, from Monday to Friday, roughly 9:00am to 6:00pm. The ideal candidate must have extensive experience working in active households with multiple school-aged children and a fully-staffed estate. The chef will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and pre-packaging meals for the family, including lunches for the children and staff as well as to-go and plated meals for principals, depending on needs. In addition, the ideal chef will have a deep understanding of Celiac Disease and have worked with family’s who have had the same needs. Responsibilities also include, managing three kitchens within the residence with attention to ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, precise inventory, and general organization. The ideal chef will add to a warm and welcoming home environment, always working with positivity and remaining calm under pressure.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee all elements of hospitality, food and beverage service within the residence daily
- Create daily menus incorporating delicious Celiac friendly meals
- Successfully communicate with household staff to coordinate mealtimes so meals run smoothly and are executed on time
- Manage all food-related vendor and contractor relationships
- Uphold the highest sanitary and cleanliness standards for the kitchen
- Create meals according to the family’s preferences and adapt to the family’ preferences as they change
- Prepare a variety of food to help develop the children’s palate
- Source the freshest ingredients
- Handle all aspects of grocery shopping, kitchen supply procurement, and inventory management for their three kitchens
- Prepare plated dinner and lunch services for in-residence family members
- Meal prep grab and go lunches for the Mr.
- Package lunch boxes for school aged children
- Prepare meals for household staff
- Meal prep and packaged meals for Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays breakfast and lunch
- Additional chef responsibilities as needed and requested
Requirements:
- Strong command of the English language; superb communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent references from current and/or previous employers
- Minimum 5+ years related experience working as a private chef for a private family
- Experience supporting individuals with Celiac Disease
- Comfortable working in a home environment with children and experience preparing meals and snacks for children of all ages
- Comfortable working in an active family kitchen
- Must be able to fully manage kitchen cleaning, stocking, serving, maintenance, etc.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Professional in both mindset and manor; use of utmost discretion at all times
- Works with positivity and is calm under pressure; always maintaining a warm and welcoming home environment.
- Experience preparing a variety of cuisines including Asian and Mediterranean
- Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
- Legally able to work in the United States
