Caregiver & Driver for Family in Weston
SEEKING: CAREGIVER & DRIVER A kind, caring and happy family in Weston, MA seeks a full-time caregiver for help with various tasks related to the care of their four children, ages 12, 10, 8, and 4 years old as well as our 1 year-old Bernese Mountain Dog. While it would be extremely rare to be responsible for all four children simultaneously, it would be expected that you would be confident and comfortable helping with any of the children at various points. We would always aim for a 2:1 child:caregiver ratio. Our 8 year-old son is disabled and requires extra attention, but he is also a joy to be with and often the simplest to care for. He has a very positive, happy disposition and does not have any acute medical or behavioral issues. This role would work closely with the family's mother and another caregiver. Responsibilities would include: Feeding, bathing, changing diapers, administering vitamins, entertaining, and assisting our 8 year old son in daily activities; Caring for our 4 year old daughter, who is very self sufficient and entertains herself, but does require appropriate supervision; Driving the older children to their various extracurricular activities and ensuring they have what they need for each activity; and, Some supervision of our dog, who is generally very lazy. We are seeking a very special person who meets the following requirements: A "giver" personality who consistently derives fulfillment from caring for others (please, consider this carefully); A flexible and dependable person with a committed career focus on caregiving that is demonstrated by energy, joy and fulfillment when working with children; Physically strong and active, as our younger son is handicapped and physical strength will be necessary to assist with tasks like bath time, diapering and mobility; Strong organizational skills and the ability to solve problems and generally "act together" so that we can trust you with our children and important errands; Experience with young children -- bonus points for a major in elementary education, CPR training, nursing background, physical therapy or another caregiver discipline; A willingness to live in our guest house on Nantucket from late June to Labor Day with brief breaks to the mainland (Transportation will be reimbursed); Scheduling flexibility and an interest in travel, as we would love to bring you along with our family on vacation (we like to go to great places, so not to worry!); and, A safe driver with a clean record, MA license and a reliable vehicle (mileage is reimbursed). While we have a housekeeper, an openness to performing personal assistant duties and light household cleaning is required (i.e. clean up after yourself and the kids). Strong organizational and project management skills are a plus. There's a comprehensive training plan, so it's ok if you're new to caring for a special needs child, so long as you love children and enjoy learning new things. Compensation is competitive, ranging from $25 to $35 / hour based on specific benchmarks. All payments are made in compliance with Federal and local tax laws. Candidates must be legal U.S. residents eligible for full-time employment. Background checks and driving record searches will be performed with the applicant's authorization. Interested candidates: Please send a current resume and cover letter explaining why you are interested and qualified for this role.
