    Professional Athlete Workers' Compensation Law Firm is looking for an experienced Paralegal/Case Manager to join our team. Primary responsibilities involve daily work moving all aspects of a workers' compensation claim forward. This includes proactively reviewing cases; drafting petitions and objections; communicating with staff, attorneys, clients, qualified medical evaluator offices and defense counsel; filing in EAMS; reviewing medical reports; drafting correspondence; and trial prep. This position can be expanded to include other aspects of Workers' Compensation, such as taking hearings before the WCAB.

    The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, organized, energetic, dependable and possess strong communication skills.

    Responsibilities:

    Manage caseload and maintain organized case files.

    Communicate exceptionally and empathetically with clients, building trust and rapport with them.

    Manage deadlines and reminders, including follow-up with doctor’s offices, attorneys, clients, WC Board, and other professionals.

    Draft petitions and objections.

    Filing in EAMS - Applications, Amended Applications, 5710 Fees, DORs, Liens, PTCSs, Exhibits, etc.

    Prepare Advocacy Letters, Schedule of Records, and Declarations for qualified medical evaluations.

    Request Supplemental Reports from Qualified Medical Evaluators.

    Manage caseload calendar, hearings, pre-trial conference agreements, discovery, and other deadlines.

    Prepare hearing exhibits and other documents to be produced to court and opposing counsel.

    Review and follow up on ongoing medical records and reports.

    Prepare written summaries, declarations, and review of client information with precision and accuracy.

    Manage electronic case files, attorney calendars, and court calendar.

    Proof and edit memorandum, draft correspondence and legal documents, and submit filings in EAMS.

    Organize high volume caseload and support overall litigation strategy.

    Working knowledge of assigned case files and can understand the relevancy of case information as it pertains to assisting in preparation for depositions, hearings, pre-trial conferences, and trial.

    Performs legal assistant and administrative duties as directed by attorneys, senior paralegal, and manager.

    May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) or a paralegal certificate, approved by the American Bar Association.

    Minimum 3 years’ paralegal experience; 5 years preferred.

    Extensive knowledge of California Workers’ Compensation Law preferred.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills- communicates clearly and effectively with a variety of individuals.

    Exceptional grammar and editing skills.

    Maintain accuracy in a fast-paced work environment.

    Superior analytical and investigative skills.

    Ability to identify, prioritize and solve problems effectively.

    Maintain a high level of professionalism and possess ability to have excellent client interaction on the phone and in person.

    Take initiative, highly organized and detail-oriented; possess exceptional interpersonal and time-management skills.

    Ability to work independently as well as within a team.

    Understanding of legal language and principles, and other related matters.

    Upbeat with a can-do attitude; must be able to work independently and have a desire to assume significant responsibility.

    Experience maintaining and coordinating large caseload.

    Ability to maintain confidentiality, and exercise discretion and good judgement.

    Familiarity with sports teams and professional athletes, and a general appreciation for professional sports is preferred.

    Wage commensurate with experience.
