    Job Description

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Process Automation Engineer II to join our team in Petaluma, United States. In this role, you will partner with cross functional teams to design, develop, and implement hardware and software automation solutions to create new capabilities and to optimize the performance of existing manufacturing processes

    • Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for automation
    • Monitor and report on the performance and ROI of automated processes
    • Act as a technical SME responsible for the design, development, and implementation of a scalable automated solution using industry-standard tools and technologies
    • Lead technical projects and interface with stakeholders to ensure requirements are met.
    • Troubleshoot process issues using root cause analysis and implement engineered solutions to address issues.
    • Construct and execute controlled experiments (including DOE's) to optimize processes, address quality issues and automate solutions in the production environment.
    • Analyze test results, issue reports and make technical recommendations.
    • Work closely with R&D, Manufacturing and Quality to develop processes for new products and improve processes of existing products through automation of the workflow.
    • Identify hardware, write business case for acquisition and install hardware and software in a laboratory environment.
    • Perform installation, operation and performance qualifications (IQ, OQ, PQ), verification and validations.
    • Collaborate with quality assurance to develop, write and execute verification and validation plans.
    • Provide end user documentation/trainings to manufacturing staff to operate and perform automated manufacturing processes.
    • Collaborate with applications development team to implement automated solutions that integrate with MES.
    • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in process automation
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or related field is required.
    • 3-5 years of experience in process automation or related field is required.
    • Experience configuring, programming and troubleshooting lab automation systems commonly used in the biotechnology industry, including Hamilton (Venus), Tecan EVOware, or similar.
    • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, VBS, or C#
    • Life sciences lab automation experience.
    • Experience in discrete event simulation.
    • Experience with relational databases.
    • Project management skills with a track record of successful project delivery.
    • Experience in liquid class development for liquid handler automation.
    • Experience with scheduling Software like Green Button Go or similar.
    • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    The typical pay range for this role is:

    Minimum: $ 86,250/ Yearly

    Maximum: $ 143,750/Yearly

    This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for the California -based position. The actual base salary will depend on several factors such as: experience, skills, and location.
