Process Engineer Manager
Position Overview- Lead manufacturing processes for a control transformer facility, ensuring timely production aligned with specifications.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Production, and Materials teams to drive operational excellence.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards (UL, CSA, CE, ISO, MOL, waste management).
- Balance responsibilities between office and manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities1\. Team Supervision (25%)
- Assign and prioritize weekly workloads for the team.
- Review and approve project deliverables.
- Handle performance management for direct reports, including training and succession planning.
- Approve vacation and leave requests.
- Participate as an active member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).
2\. Cost Reduction Initiatives (10%)
- Implement innovative solutions to enhance manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs.
- Evaluate cost-saving ideas and conduct post-audits for sustainability.
- Prepare justifications and presentations for leadership as needed.
3\. Process Maintenance & Improvement (50%)
- Lead development of tooling, methods, and layout for manufacturing processes.
- Analyze trends from Manufacturing Operating System (MOS) data and propose actions.
- Resolve quality issues, update labor standards, and ensure adherence to practices.
- Drive KPI improvements and create/maintain process documentation.
- Implement lean initiatives and 5S for a safe, clean work environment.
4\. Capital Management (5%)
- Develop and implement capital plans, including justifications and schedules.
- Optimize plant capacity to meet sales demands.
5\. Regulatory Compliance (5%)
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements for equipment, safety, and environmental standards.
- Conduct process safety reviews (PSRs) and assist with accident analysis.
6\. Plant Maintenance Support (5%)
- Oversee resolution of non-routine maintenance issues.
- Ensure preventive maintenance for critical equipment.
- Support facility standards compliance and CMMS software management.
QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or similar).
- Professional Engineer (P-Eng) certification required.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing tools and large equipment.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles (VSM, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, waste elimination).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ERP systems (Infor Syteline preferred), and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience
- 5+ years in senior manufacturing/quality engineering roles.
- Proven experience leading continuous improvement initiatives.
- 5+ years of project management and people leadership experience.
