Thompson First Group is currently seeking a qualified Process Engineer for a local client in the Clinton, NC area.
Candidates that have a background with 3+ years experience in a Manufacturing environment and a background in Mechanical Engineering are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Development and Optimization:
- Analyze, design, and optimize manufacturing processes for aluminum melting, casting, blanking, annealing, and packaging.
- Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to ensure consistent and efficient operations.
- Monitor process performance and implement corrective actions to address inefficiencies or quality issues.
Continuous Improvement:
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and improve product quality.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to identify and address process bottlenecks.
- Conduct root cause analysis for process deviations and implement sustainable solutions.
Quality Assurance:
- Collaborate with the Quality team to ensure that processes meet internal and customer specifications.
- Analyze process data and product quality metrics to identify trends and implement quality improvements.
- Support failure analysis and corrective actions for non-conforming products.
Safety and Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure all processes comply with safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Participate in risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate process hazards.
- Train operators and other staff on safety protocols and best practices for process operations.
Project Management:
- Lead or participate in capital projects to improve or expand manufacturing capabilities.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Maintenance, Production, and Engineering, to ensure project success.
- Prepare technical reports, project timelines, and cost analyses for leadership review.
Technical Support:
- Provide day-to-day technical support to production teams to address process-related challenges.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues, collaborating with Maintenance and external vendors as needed.
- Stay updated on industry advancements and incorporate new technologies into existing processes.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in aluminum processing or metals industry.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of aluminum melting, casting, blanking, annealing, and packaging processes.
- Proficiency in using process simulation software and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies; certification is a plus.
- Understanding of safety and environmental regulations in a manufacturing environment.

- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

- Ability to work in an industrial environment, including exposure to heat, noise, and dust.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
