Job Description
The Maintenance Engineer Intern supports the Maintenance Engineer in providing technical support to the Maintenance Department in the form of implementation and maintenance of equipment life cycle maintenance strategies. The intern shall use analytical work to identify, quantify, and implement corrective actions to improve the overall performance of the processing plant equipment and the processing maintenance work management processes.
The qualified candidate will:
• Participate in the review of new installations to ensure their maintainability and reliability.
• Participate in formal Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to identify and eliminate repetitive failures
• Perform cost/benefit analyses and associate impact to cash flow to evaluate proposed solutions
• Write standard Work Orders, establish job BOMs, and initiate inventory changes commensurate with Job BOMs
• Assist the maintenance planners with reliability analysis of proposed equipment modifications
• Make specific recommendations to improve machinery performance and reliability based on analysis of process and failure data
• Assist the Reliability Engineer in Creating and Maintenance Failure Codes
• Make recommendations for PdM tasks for specific equipment
• Provide technical assistance to maintenance supervisors, planners, and maintenance technicians in the form of specific data analysis on systems configuration and performance • Assist the project engineer with the project life cycle management
• Develop project scope of work documents including technical site specifications
• Assist the project engineer with project monitoring and control processes
• Assist planner with constructing projects and outage Gantt charts
• Perform Earned Value Analysis and propose corrective actions to redirect failing projects
• Review and update equipment Bill of Materials
• Other activities as reasonably required
Qualifications
• Working toward a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in electrical, mechanical, manufacturing engineering or related discipline.
• Junior year or higher would be preferred
• MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
• MS Project experience preferred
• MS PowerBi experience preferred
• Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles (fluids, heat transfer, electrical systems, mechanics of material, dynamic, etc.) and ability to apply them to real life examples • Financial analysis preferred
• Willingness for development and ability to work with cross functional teams
• 3.0 GPA or better
• Strong analytical problem-solving and critical thinking aptitude
• Prior experience with CMMS or ERP systems preferred
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Ability to navigate and interpreted engineering documentation

• Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday
• Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
