    SSC Inc. is looking to hire an exceptional Procurement Specialist. To develop and manage account relationships by providing goods and support to customers. Focus on not only maintaining existing business, but also growing and developing new business. To ensure the customer is receiving fair and high quality seafood through such activities as buying products, quoting, following up on orders and problem solving issues Must live in or within commuting distance of Union City, CA. This is not a remote position.

    SEAFOOD EXPERIENCE A MUST TO BE CONSIDERED

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    · Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts

    · Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals and review requisitions for goods and services

    · Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history

    · Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices

    · Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations

    · Negotiate, or renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives

    · Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time, and in the event of problems trace shipments and follow up undelivered goods

    · Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action

    · Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for changes

    · Maintain and review computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, delivery, product performance, and inventories

    · Review catalogs, industry periodicals, directories, trade journals, and Internet sites, and consult with other department personnel to locate necessary goods and services

    · Study sales records and inventory levels of current stock to develop strategic purchasing programs that facilitate employee access to supplies

    · Interview vendors and visit suppliers' plants and distribution centers to examine and learn about products, services and prices

    · Arrange the payment of duty and freight charges

    · Monitor changes affecting supply and demand, tracking market conditions, price trends, or futures markets

    · Other duties may be assigned

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL

    Minimum of 3 years' experience Buyer, Assistant Buyer or Purchasing Agent is required.

    Experience purchasing foods is required; wholesale/distribution experience is preferred.

    Experience in negotiating contracts with vendors, including managing a competitive bid process is required.

    Demonstrated ability to reduce cost and drive supplier performance

    Proficient User of MS Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint required

    Strong decision-making ability and creative problem solving skills

    High attention to details

    Ability to participate in cross-functional, teamwork oriented environment

    Ability to work independently and deliver results

    Ability to interact at multiple levels within management and functional groups both internally and externally

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
