    Job Description

    We are looking for an Associate Producer to join our MSNBC Audio Unit. This role will work across multiple podcasts and projects. The AP’s primary role will be to support the unit with a combination of administrative duties (such as organizing tape, booking studios, and updating show websites), and editorial roles (fact checking, cutting tape, and researching). The AP will work closely with podcast producers on series and episodes, including coming up with pitches and assisting with booking. The AP will know how to edit audio and occasionally take the lead in junior-level assignments. The AP should have an interest in news and politics, as well as a basic understanding of narrative storytelling, and adhere to journalistic best practices.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Oversee MSNBC’s showcasts (i.e., TV shows repurposed as podcasts) by monitoring the showcast feeds, training linear peers on posting to Simplecast and Apple Connect, and providing support where needed
    • Post TV special coverage as audio-only offerings
    • Maintain show websites and gather social media materials
    • Help with booking, research, and fact-checking
    • Write draft scripts & prep for hosts
    • Locate, organize and edit file tape
    • Cut tape in Descript and Pro Tools
    • Take the lead on producing new shows; backfill on existing shows as needed
    • Build new feeds when needed
    • Work closely with manager and teammates to make sure everything is accomplished

    Additional Requirements

    • Must be willing to work varied shifts as news changes
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
    • Minimum 3 years of audio production experience, preferably in podcasting
    • Minimum 1 year of video editing experience for YouTube podcasting
    • Technical expertise in ProTools and Descript
    • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects under deadline

    Salary range: $93,000 - $110,000.
