Product Design Engineer
Stable and growing automotive components manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Product Design Engineer to join its growing team outside of Lynchburg, VA! This individual will need strong design skills using SolidWorks and maintain control over engineering documentation, prints, and product development process. This individual will work in a cross-functional team environment and operate under Lean Enterprise methodologies and utilize Six Sigma techniques.
Job Responsibilities
- Design Engineer for existing product line
- Manage new products as assigned to AQP (Advanced Quality Planning) goals and disciplines (ie: APQP, FMEA's, etc.).
- Develop new product designs/drafting
- Conduct and coordinate product reliability testing to assure all industry standards are met.
- Evaluate new products and components to assure all critical characteristics are within established design requirements.
- Assist in establishing material specifications and requirements.
- Assist in marketing and quality control, as required, with customer contact.
- Work with customers to initiate new products.
- Provide design and development support.
Required Skills and Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar Engineering degree, required.
- Minimum of 1-2+ years metal component or metal product design experience, required.
- Design experience in 3D Solid Works (or similar CAD design) and 2D Drafting, required
- Experience in design, development, validation testing and production launch of new innovative products, preferred
- Ability to write technical specifications and technical reports
- Experience in Product Development, preferred
- Understanding of quality systems and quality statistics, preferred
- Experience in design of valves, a plus.
