Product Development Engineer
Minneapolis, MN | Direct Hire | $100k – $140k | Remote
Konik is partnering with a start up medical device company that is seeking to add an experienced Product Development Engineer to their team. In this position, you will play a key role in identifying and making improvements to products already being manufactured, as well as additional products that will be going to market in the near future. If you are a skilled engineer with a background in medical device that would thrive in a cross-functional role, this is an excellent opportunity.
Product Development Engineer Responsibilities:
- Develop, refine, and analyze solid models and assemblies for innovative healthcare products, ensuring high-quality design standards and effective functionality.
- Collaborate in the prototyping, testing, and evaluation of new product assemblies to support iterative design improvements and meet performance criteria.
- Design plastic injection-molded parts and oversee the setup and validation of manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and efficient production.
- Work closely with Document Control to maintain accurate and up-to-date solid model files, assembly files, and technical drawings, supporting regulatory and quality documentation.
- Apply knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles and medical device design controls to meet quality, regulatory, and usability standards.
- Provide technical support for product enhancements, prototyping, and troubleshooting, leveraging expertise in manufacturing processes, materials, and solid modeling.
Product Development Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related.
- 6+ years of experience preferred; 3+ years of experience required.
- Strong design skills modeling complex components; SolidWorks experience is preferred
- Experience with plastic injectioned molded parts and working with electromechanical components is preferred.
- Medical device experience with a strong knowledge of design controls and ISO13485 quality standards.
- Willingness to work in a cross-functional setting, supporting manufacturing and other areas as needed.
