Production Assistants are responsible for the technical aspects of stream production. Duties include equipment setup/ cleanup (setting up cameras, computers, microphones/ headsets, sound boards, video switchers, etc.), camera operation during events, Graphics/ On-stream Score Operation during events, and troubleshooting issues with equipment and stream feeds if they occur to ensure the stream stays online.
Qualifications
- Must have High School Diploma (or equivalent) (Associate's Degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, Sports Media, or a similar field preferred)
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to different schools in our coverage area (Bergen, Hudson, Hunterdon, Warren, Sussex, Morris, Essex, Passaic, Union, Middlesex, and Somerset counties)
- There may be occasional travel outside of the coverage area. We try to arrange for carpooling where possible. If you are driving to an area outside of the coverage area, you will be compensated an additional “per-diem” rate.
- Must be flexible and willing to work weekends and weekday evenings during the academic year
- You will be given a minimum of 2 weeks notice of any events that are added to the schedule.
- Games on weekdays can start as early as 3:45 PM and early as 9 AM on weekends. Call times are usually 90 minutes prior to game start.
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must not actively work for/ contract with any other media organizations that provide streaming services of interscholastic sports.
- Ability to lift/ carry/ move A/V equipment (up to 50 lbs.)
- Knowledge of general rules of different interscholastic sports is a plus
- Working knowledge of audio and video studio equipment
- 2-3 years of experience in setting up/ tearing down/ operating cameras, tripods, sound boards, microphones, and video switchers.
- Experience in software such as YouTube Streaming/Studio, Open Broadcaster Software (OBS), vMix, Blackmagic ATEM, TrackWrestling/ FloArena, and Bitfocus Companion.
Rate of Pay
Rate of pay is determined based on length of event. All events are paid per diem. Most events are 2-3 hours in length.
Anticipated Starting Timeline:
- Mandatory Training Day: Saturday, May 10th, 2025
- Start of Assignments: June 11th, 2025
