About the Production Management Engineer I position
We are looking for a reliable Production Management Engineer to learn, understand, and perform advanced or specialized engineering duties in the Production Management Team: analyzing production capacity, line balance, production scheduling, and monthly production closing. Complete and implement KPI's for the department. Also, perform internal audits to ensure TP meets requirements.
• Production Capacity: analyze production capacity by process and make line balance, establish annual/monthly production targets, conduct analysis of production results and productivity improvement plans and support cooperation with production headquarters
• Production Closing & Yield: Perform monthly production closing, cooperate with company headquarters and perform the production closing to standard.
You should be a good problem solver with creative approach to your tasks, deeply concerned about quality and efficiency and well-versed in the latest technology trends and best practices.
Production Engineer I responsibilities are:
- Work with a “Safety Always” mindset through supporting and promoting continuous improvement of safety and health in the workplace
- Perform all duties with a “Quality First” mindset through improvement of work processes and procedures to eliminate and prevent defects
- Develop a “big picture” focus and understanding of the complete tire manufacturing process
- Establish good rapport and build working relationships and networks with peers, technicians and other employees to develop a strong network/ support base
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers and other third parties
- Remain current with professional practices and maintain a high awareness of new products and procedures in the industry. Monitor trade publications and actively participate in professional organizations
- Create Consultation Forms accurately and timely with minimal assistance
- Assist higher-level engineers by developing improvement ideas and perform other activities as required
- Establish a working pattern where all work activities and plans are “audit ready”
- Develop a flexible personal work schedule as TP is a 24/7 operation to ensure necessary work is completed to meet required deadlines through taking ownership in your area of responsibility
- Perform routine and intermediate duties requiring application and knowledge of engineering principles
- Prepare simple and routine plans, calculations and cost estimates by following standard engineering practices and procedures
- Interpret engineering specifications and solve routine problems by applying defined procedures with proven precedent
- Systematically identify causes of problems and identify possible solutions in a Plan – Do – Check – Act methodology
- Drive cooperation between operators and schedulers to support equipment up-time objectives
- Develop an understanding of the manufacturing system and use it when making production schedules and performing production closing
- Perform month-end production closing within SAP
- Analyze production capacity and bottleneck improvement
- Analyze and improve line balance, operation rates, and productivity in all areas
- Troubleshoot issues with production in a timely manner
- Create daily and weekly production schedules by understanding overall operation of the plant, customer demands, inventory levels, and production constraints
- Perform an annual production closing and audit
- Support the implementation of more efficient processes by focusing on opportunities for improvement
- Participate in Value Stream Mapping activities to identify non-value-adding activities and eliminate redundancy and waste
- Perform other duties as assigned
Production Engineer I requirements are:
Education:
- (Required) Bachelor's degree, field of science or learning major
- (Preferred) Computer Sciences/Industrial Engineering major or advanced degree in a related field
Experience:
- (Required) 0+ years of proven engineering experience in the manufacturing industry
- (Preferred) Relevant experience preferred to include internships or Co-ops
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to frequently move about the manufacturing plant campus, general office environments, production areas, and occasionally ascend/descend stairs
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery
- Must be able to position self to file documents including the top and bottom drawers of file cabinets
- Must be able to occasionally move office equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
